Advent Calendar: Day 15
Hiding behind door 15 we have a blended white wine from South Africa. Adi Badenhorst is the man behind The Curator. He likes to keep his wine-making simple and straight-forward with an emphasis on keeping the cellar beer cold and letting the wine run its course.
The Curator White Blend
A blend of 5 white grape varieties makes this incredible white wine. The final wine for this yearly blend is based on a series of staff tastings: whichever blending sample is drunk first is the one they use as the final blend!
Grape Variety: Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier, Semillon, Colombard
Vintage: 2021
ABV: 13%
Country: South Africa
Tasting notes; The bush-vine Chenin Blanc provides the wine’s acidic backbone and structure whilst the wild-fermented Chardonnay provides the complexity of dried peach and apricot fruit flavours. The small proportion of Viognier adds spiciness, floral aromatics and palate length and lastly a splash of Semillon and Colombard for complexity.
