Advent Calendar: Day 5
Today’s door takes us to vineyards in Chile close to the Pacific Ocean.
Krakat’inii Sauvignon Blanc
A deliciously aromatic drop from the Pacific's exotic shores, a Sauvignon Blanc bursting with Chilean vines.
Grape Variety: Sauvignon Blanc
ABV: 13%
Vintage: 2021
Country: Chile
Tasting notes: Deliciously grassy, exotically fragrant yet coolingly dry. Goes really well with fish and chips.
The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are grown in three excellent sites. The proximity of the vineyards to the Pacific Ocean (only 10 km away) and its fresh coastal breezes ensure grapes ripen slowly. This allows the grapes to retain their natural citrus flavours and freshness but also to develop great aromatics. Sauvignon Blanc grapes in Leyda are some of the first to be harvested in Chile, and winemaking is simple to preserve this crunchy, bright fruit. Cool fermentation in stainless steel is followed by a couple of months on their fine lees which adds texture and depth.
