Recipe: Halloween Sangria
Question: What’s blood-red, has floating eyeballs and tastes devilishly delicious? Our Halloween Sangria, of course.
If you enjoy a glass of red wine sangria in the summertime, this will be right up your street as the recipe is quite similar but with spooky additions.
Whether you’re heading to a fancy dress party this weekend or staying in to watch spooky films, this is your go-to drink. It’s easy to make and simple to scale up for a ghoulish crowd.
Ingredients:
Red Wine: You can use anything you like but make it fruity. Try the When In Rome Primitivo or Le Malbec D’Herve.
Brandy: This is going to add a boost of flavour to the cocktail. No fancy brands are needed here, a super-market own brand could do the trick.
Grapes: Any colour. These will be your ‘eyeballs’. You’re going to want to get your grapes in the freezer ahead of time.
Citrus Fruit: You can’t have sangria without fruit. Lemon, lime, orange and grapefruit all work well.
Ginger Beer: The secret ingredient! Adding that bit of extra Autumnal flavour. If you can’t get ginger beer, ginger ale will work too.
Cinnamon Stick: Optional but it does add to the flavour.
Method: Serves 1
Wash the grapes and get them in the freezer the night before if possible.
Chop your citrus into slices.
Add your citrus, cinnamon stick and frozen grapes to a glass.
Add 25ml Brandy.
Add 190ml red wine.
Top up with ginger beer.
