A peak inside the October Juice Box.
Who is ready for some brand new wine in their monthly subscription box? We are!
This month we have not one, not two, but three brand-new cans that we are welcoming to the juice box. I can’t wait to hear what you think of them, what food you’ve paired them with or what Netflix show you binged whilst drinking them.
Without further ado, let’s go through the contents of the October Juice Box.
Sparkling red. Yep. You read that correctly. It’s making a comeback and we are well and truly here for it. If you’ve not tried fizzy red before, this can is a great introduction; the Defy Organic Frizzante Red. It’s their delicious red wine (which you may have come across before) which has been naturally fermented to give it a fizzy kick. Serve ice cold from the fridge.
Sticking firmly in Italy, we move onto our first white wine; a Ribolla Gialla. Named after it’s pale yellow colour, (‘gialla’ means yellow in Italian) this is a dry white wine whose grapes are grown in the Friuli region of Northeastern Italy. This wine has a light, fruity and floral nose with a crunchy and fresh mouth-feel. It pairs particularly well with sushi, tapas and seafood.
The next white wine is a firm favourite of Brixton Wine Club with probably the most recognisable label in the gang. It’s Bowl Grabber’s delicious Portuguese Alvarinho. Selected by a Master of Wine (so you know it’s good), it’s actually won awards, too. This white wine is crisp, light-bodied and full of peach, citrus zest and pear aromas. Similarly to the Ribolla Gialla, this wine also pairs well with seafood.
At Brixton Wine Club, we are firm believers that sparkling wine shouldn’t be kept solely for celebrations and special occasions. Drinking sparkling wine in cans is the perfect itch to scratch that yearning for a midweek-sparkling wine. Enter, Canvino. Their Bianco white sparkling wine has been made from grapes grown in family-owned vineyards in Lombardy. Santé!
We’re still here for rosé drinking into October. Especially when it’s a Malbec Rosé. Not tried one before? This is the perfect opportunity. Wild Steps produces this organic rosé from high-quality organic vineyards in Mendoza, Argentina. The juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks when the wine gets its gorgeous pink colour. Very fresh and floral with violet flowers on the nose.
Back to Italy we go for our final canned treat of the month. This is another wine that gives off floral notes of violets, it’s the Dolcetto red wine from Kiss of Wine. If you prefer your red wine on the lighter-bodied side of the scale, you’re going to love this wine. There are black fruits and plums on the nose with a peppery, chocolate kick on the palate. This one needs to be decanted into a glass to appreciate it’s purple-hued glory.
